China’s Kunming city has unveiled hemp’s pertinent function in a plan launched by the city’s municipal government focused on the biotechnology sector’s domestic growth.
The 3-year proposal, Kunming’s Several Measures To Enhance the Biomedical Industry’s Top-notch Development, seeks to use the Free Trade Zone and the rapid development of Yunnan province’s infrastructure to expand the biotech industry.
The proposal particularly aims to develop industrial hemp, TCM( Traditional Chinese Medicine), stem cells, generic drugs, and other sectors. It targets institutions conducting development and research, cultivation, production, and dissemination of biotech medicines, chemical medicines, TCM, health products, and medical equipment.
The Chinese government sees hemp’s crucial role in traditional medicines. It has selected the hemp industry in extensive long-haul development plans. A surging number of biotechnology and health firms are looking for positions in hemp’s production chain.
They’re supported by investors motivated by CBD’s potential and hemp’s fit within the traditional Chinese medicine industry. A surplus of private firms own assets in Yunnan’s prosperous CBD center, where the local administration has erected the Kunming International Industry Hemp Industry Park.
‘Several Measures’ strives to generate an outline plan for the growth of Chinese medicinal plants in Kunming. With the nearby Jiaozi Snow Mountain as the center, the plan seeks to set up a top-quality Chinese medical drug production region in the core of Yunnan.
The proposal plans to construct the first Chinese Biotech workshop, boosting Research and Development as well as innovation. It will also develop human and capital resources to construct a valuable biopharmaceutical sector cluster with outstanding southwest china traits.
The ‘Several Measures’ plan was launched at the onset of 2021 and pushes to create large-scale tools, research and engineering centers, laboratories, and academic outposts.
