The Arthritis Foundation, which in 2019 became the first leading patient’s advocacy group to release CBD recommendations to around 50 million arthritis patients, has entered into a sponsorship agreement with CBDMEDIC.
The designation of CBDMEDIC comes a little over a year after the foundation’s recommendations over CBD use. The Arthritis Foundation has dedicated itself to pursuing a cure to arthritis, one of America’s leading causes of disability. The group advocates for community connections and provides arthritis patients with educational resources.
Some of the group’s recommendations served as a warning to patients with arthritis over the use of CBD products containing THC. They warned that THC, even in low amounts, can get one ‘high’ leading to motion and balance difficulties. The group also cautioned that CBD has the potential of interacting with many of the medications generally prescribed for arthritis.
The foundation released the news of CBDMEDIC’s designation as an Impact Sponsor on Friday, October 9. The announcement came only two days away from World Arthritis Day held on Monday, October 12.
CBDMEDIC is now part of Charlotte’s Web CBD brands, after a March acquisition deal worth $69 million. The company manufactures pain-relief topicals, which it sells online and in over 4,500 retail stores across the US. The company also has a range of top-selling CBD products meant for patients suffering from arthritic symptoms, pain, and inflammation.
In April this year, CBDMEDIC sponsored the ‘Survive & Thrive’ initiative by the Arthritis Foundation, which raised over $200,000 online.
Ann McNamara, senior vice president of development and community for the Arthritis Foundation, said that the organization was grateful to have CBDMEDIC as an Impact Sponsor. She added that the brand’s support would be fundamental in sparking new solutions for alleviating arthritic pain and related problems.
Charlotte’s Web stated that it would continue to raise funds for the advocacy group and offer free pain management webinars.
